The little engine that could
Renting a car and driving it in Rhodes gave us a couple of panic attacks at the start. We weren’t sure what it would be like renting a manual car as only I had the international license and definitely couldn’t get it out of the parking lot. Read: have not driven in the 10 years I had my license. Luckily the staff didn’t bat an eyelash as they handed us the keys. Just outside of the parking lot we faced our first incline; we chuckled nervously as the car stalled right in front of a gigantic tour bus. By chance after madly shifting to the right gear, our little turquoise car made its way up in the right direction as it should.

Lindos
Lindos was a funny little town. It was filled with tourists, donkeys, and tourists on donkeys. The beach was well worth a swim, I had my goggles and was able to see a couple of types of fish and some snails.

Old Town Rhodes
Inside Old Town, the shops sold kitschy trinkets for tourists but didn’t really offer anything beyond that.
What I did enjoy was seeing the sunset, the old walls, and walkways – it made for a nice midsummer evening stroll.
