Blew off a bit of steam this weekend after we launched a new website for work –
Started off at the bar at the client’s offices, then off we went to the Lord Raglan in Alexandria. Had some burgers, which were decent but not as good as the ones we had last week at the Kingston Public in Newtown. Starting to think Sydney’s signature food might be burgers – beef here is seriously tasty.
After that we migrated over to the Lansdowne Hotel in Chippendale, which apparently only re-opened last week and made a lot of hip Sydneysiders very happy. Watched the go-go dancers. Played some darts.
For Saturday I was invited to my friend’s housewarming which was advertised as a sausage and wine party (10+ bottles of wine and 2 loaves of bread, priorities were in the right place).
After some vegetarian sausages on toast, I left to meet other friends at MOJO by Luke Mangan in Waterloo. Had an old fashioned and read for a bit by the bar while waiting for my friends. Dinner was good but I was barely keeping my eyes open by 10pm. Was pleasantly surprised that some mystery person “took care” of my drink anonymously, guess I will never know who this kind stranger is.
Today was eventful as well. I met a friend in Surry Hills at the Blacksmith for brunch. After we parted I found another cafe and read for a couple of hours with a turmeric latte, my new favourite drink. Soon I made my way over to Newtown and managed to check out some graffiti before heading to Lentil as Anything for a workshop.
The workshop had quite a large group of people attending, which was not what I expected when it was posted in the Sydney introverts group. A lot of attendees were international, of all ages, and what I found most entertaining were some really eccentric seniors (seriously random. such hippies. much rambling. many interesting body odours.)
Initially I went in expecting to gain some communication skills for personal reasons, but left with insights (more useful for work rather than personal purposes) on running workshops and the facilitation of big groups of people. It was a weird experience, but a good one.
That was my weekend… I am ready for my holiday now.
5 Days and I’m on a plane back to the home country!
