Salzburg was a really nice city – I’m really glad we got to experience the Christmas spirit here. The city itself was really quiet and cozy – during this time it felt like we saw more tourists than locals.
We took a day trip out towards St. Gilgen, unfortunately everything was closed. Ye be not so stupid, always check holiday hours and ferry times!
Christkindlmarkt
The Krampus parade that happened in the Christmas market in Salzburg was my favourite experience. Lots of monsters strolled through the streets with their big bells and fur – terrifying, but impressive.
Food
There were lots of tasty desserts and a sweet little local soda called almdudler. “Mozart balls” were on sale everywhere in Salzburg (his birthplace), which is giggle-worthy even to this day.
